What would you do?

I have an interest free overdraft with Natwest, that is at -£1,989. It is interest free till August ish. (I need to confirm this).

I also have a credit card which is charged interest.

Which one should I pay off first?

Here is my current total that I calculated as of 4 November 2009:

–£2,444.17

This is still a massive amount. I need to get under -£2,000 at least by April 2010 so that is one of my main goals.

Has anyone else found themselves slipping?

Sticking to paying off my debt is hard, hence why I keep neglecting this blog but no more of that!

I have been putting money away to save for an emergency fund in my Nationwide account.

I really need to get a grip of my finances because quite frankly, I am way too in debt to not be focused about this.

The current picture is I am still in deep in my overdraft + my credit card debt.

seriously??

why is it so hard to stick to just one paying schedule?

Have been too busy. So sorry about the lack of financial updates!

Am away for a wedding until next week but I promise to update more regularly when I come back.

On a good note, I have paid my CC on time for once ! Yay!

• Called the bank today to plead with them to waive a late payment fee for tomorrow. She said I would but she said I would have to start a direct debit. So I have but I am not holding my breath AT ALL. I will check online tomorrow to make sure I haven’t been given a late payment fee. I paid in £20 yesterday to the shop. My direct debit is £11 for next month. I think this may be easier.
• Called another section of the bank to talk about overdrafts. I don’t want an extension, even though I am BROKE. But having said that, he said I have a year to pay it back so I need to get on it RIGHT now and start paying it back.

Debt: -£2,510

Assets: My Standard Life Pension which is £242.98 which I cannot touch, because obviously it is a pension.

I really need to giddy the fuck up and stop falling into the trap of getting heavy into debt.

I am sick of being in debt!

I want to buy a lot of Mike’s back catalogue on CD (and no, I am not a bandwagon stan). Have loved him since I was a baby.

But as a girl on the cheap, I need to do this sensibly.

I went to HMV yesterday to do price comparison of ‘Bad’: Michael’s 1988 hit album ‘Bad’ was £6.99 in the HMV in Walthamstow, east London.

• On Amazon, it is £3.98, but bear in mind you have to spend over £5 to qualify for free Super Saver Delivery
• On Play.com, Bad is £3.99 WITH free delivery.

Verdict: Play.com is £3 cheaper than buying the CD in the shop. Having said that, it depends what you want. A reviewer on Play.com said that the edition of Bad they are selling has edited a lot of the songs on there, which is really annoying bc I don’t want another version of the CD.

What’s also bizarre for HMV is that you can also buy Bad online for £3.99 + free UK delivery, but you have to pay £7 in the shop.

Are they adding an extra £3 to buy it and have it immediately?

I am over the limit fee. Argh! It was silly really. I am £5.13 over my credit card. Called the bank just now to double check and they said that since I have already been charged, I will not be charged again until the 23 July, on the assumption that I don’t make a payment.

I’m too embarrassed to ask my family for help with this and I have started a new part time cleaning job so I will wait until I get paid (hopefully by the end of the week) to sort this out.

I feel like I keep going back and forth with money. I also haven’t done my daily spending for 10 days.

Will sort myself out.

I just keep having fantasies about the day that I no longer have any credit card or overdraft debt.

It is a bloody long way away and made even more so difficult by the fact that I cannot find a temporary job at the moment.

It’s very disheartening.

I will be updating the blog more. Please don’t think I have abandoned it – I just can’t seem to get a job.
