My Plan To Minimise My Overdraft

Posted by: aulelia on: March 25, 2009

My overdraft is currently standing at -£1,994.

I have put £5 in there hence why it is below -£2,000. This is still a lot of money to pay back but judging from the days when I was over my limit and owed -£2,050, I am pleased to have got it down.

It is a student interest free overdraft until 2010 after I went to chat to the bank God willing. My plan so far is to pay £5 a month until I get a job.

My credit card is a financial imperative to be honest so I need to focus on that or I’ll get overcharged. But I really want to ideally finish off paying my overdraft by April 2010.

Wish me luck.

Good luck !!!!
Going from – £2,050 to -£1,994 is good improvement and it’s good that you congratulate yourself for getting your overdraft down. Sometimes, when ppl owe lot of money, they beat htemselves up so often that even when there’s improvement, they can’t see it…and they end up depressed because of all the beating up.

Off-topic : Aulelia, a few weeks ago, I read on Charcoal that you did cold calls. I would like to know what to say, how to be convincing while doing it, etc. I tried to do it today : I called a magazine and, not only the woman I wanted to talk with was (supposedly) not there, but the woman who answered was not very enthusiast about my ideas. She didn’t even let me explain it fully. VERY frustrating.
Maybe I don’t know how to sell myself through the phone, so I need some advice.
I’m still going to send my unsolicited applications * sigh *
Thanks in advance.

Well done. I know it seems a long way off but honestly time will fly!

Apart from my mortgage I am completely debt free. I paid off my last loan this week.

@kimi, Sorry I have not replied earlier. I just caught this now. I think you should just keep trying to call. Cold callling is so stressful but it is even worse if you think about it too much. Keep trying hun ;)

@hewb, Congratulations ! fab news!
